RAM (Radio Active Mute) eliminates constant back ground noise from radio static
The front-mounted, 2.5mm multipurpose jack give pilots unprecedented access to their audio panel, allowing connections to cell phones, portable music devices, or audio announcements directly into the audio panel.
PS Engineering incorporated some "smarts" with this new jack. When used as an entertainment input, the music can be directed to the crew and/or passengers. PS Engineering's patented SoftMute™, Karaoke Mode™, along with the four different mute modes (Mute ON; Mute OFF; Intercom Mute; Radio Mute) gives the pilot the most music flexibility available today.
PS Engineering has devoted considerable effort in providing a means of customizing the audio panel to meet particular needs. Ease of use was foremost, so voice annunciations are used with the selection of each function. Our revolutionary Virtual Tech Support (VTS) voice prompts each special function selection assuring that the pilot knows exactly what the new audio panel configuration is, in plain English.
Three different configurations can be selected from the front panel, such as how the music is distributed, the way the intercom functions, and selecting the new Monitor Function. Once a particular configuration is selected, a female voice announces that selection and will remain in affect until the pilot changes that selection. No audio panel from any manufacturer offers this kind of flexibility.
The Monitor mode is probably the most significant, single product improvement that has been made to the PMA8000B since it was introduced 3 years ago. This new function allows the pilot to designate one com radio as primary, while having the second com as the secondary audio source. When there is radio activity on the primary radio, the secondary com radio will temporarily mute. The Monitor mode will change your IFR approach environment, eliminating having to try to decipher two simultaneous radio receptions
The PMA8000B utility jack also is a convenient way to connect your cellular telephone. When the cellular phone is connected and the pilot pushes the "TEL" button our "Du-tel"™ system goes online. The Pilot can make a private phone call, everyone can be on the phone, or just the pilot and copilot can use the telephone. This selection is made by the ISO, ALL and Crew switch.
While using the phone, the pilot can receive and transmit on the selected VHF COM, for seamless integration in the cockpit. (Cellular telephone use in flight is not permitted, but remains a convenient and safe way to contact air-traffic control or a weather briefer while on the ground.)
PS Engineering's innovative Internal Recording System (IRS™) is now standard equipment, a $130 savings! The pilots can instantly play back radio messages, eliminating the need for the pilot to request "say again," or assure themselves that the last radio call was for them. The playback button is on the front panel. Up to 8 messages can be recorded and played back in sequence.
The new PMA8000B is backward compatible with our PMA8000 as well as a direct replacement for the GARMIN GMA340.
Note: Use of the front panel jack is restricted to advisory information only, from portable systems. Signals required for certified equipment must be interface in accordance with their specific installation manuals.

Owners of Sandel SN3308 will need to install series resistors in the external marker drive lines if they wish for the Marker Indication to continue to work properly.
PMA8000B Product Information Overview and Features
Built upon PS-Engineering's 20 years of proven audio control designs, a new level of utility has just been achieved with the introduction of the PMA8000B.
Having all of the capabilities of our original PMA8000, the PMA8000B is 100% Plug and Play with GARMIN’s GMA340*, but now provides complete access to all of the enhanced capabilities that would have otherwise required additional wiring. This means instant access to the cellular telephone interface, play back capability from the Internal Digital Recorder, front panel selectable configurations, and IntelliVox®!
Adding a “smart” front panel mini-jack, pilot selectable audio configurations, and making the original Intercom Recording System (IRS) standard, this audio panel has no equal. Never before has so many audio resources been available in one place.
Like the original PMA8000, the PMA8000B provides two coms (including split mode) our Dutel™ full duplex telephone interface, a high fidelity six place stereo intercom, two separate and configurable channels of stereo entertainment inputs, and comes with an integrated marker beacon receiver.
With our patented IntelliVox® automatic intercom system, all traditional knobs and push buttons once needed in the old type of VOX systems that were required to adjust the intercom trip levels have been eliminated. With our proprietary system, the on board computers sample the microphones signals in real time, and determine if there is voice or noise present at the microphones. Our system has been proven in over 25,000 installations to eliminate the frustration of clipping the first few syllables while making the overall sound quality of the intercom second to none.
The front panel, 2.5mm utility jack, provides the pilot a convenient way of connecting a cell phone, portable music device, audio alerting device, or even the advanced audio capabilities of the latest generation of portable GPS systems.
With our new Virtual Technical Support (VTS), three new front panel configurations can now be selected, giving the pilot unprecedented ability to customize his audio. And with aural prompting, the pilot will never need to pull out the Pilot Guide again, he just listens to his VTS.
The many benefits of our patented IntelliVox® (automatic VOX) intercom, will allow the pilot to pay more attention to flying than adjusting knobs. With our forward thinking engineering, you’ll gain the benefits of our expertise in audio, making your flying experience that much more enjoyable.
Flying Never Sounded So Good®
